The door opens and you hear music. The smell of pizza, not oil and fryers, but more that of baking bread. There are people relaxing. A small table to the left, teenagers at some high tops by the window, and a family in big comfy chairs to the right. The oven, a word burner, is the center piece of the space. The walls are lined with bookcases. A sign below a shelf reads, “Welcome to the tiny library at social dough, please take a free book to enjoy with your food or when you leave.” Stamped inside each tome, “This once lived at social dough. Please give it a good home.” Ordering is simple and on the counter is a donation jar for the charity of the month. This is not your average pizza place. Food brings people together; community keeps them there.
